BINUS International is turning 25 this year and is expanding Indonesian students’ access to international educational experiences. One way it is doing so is through collaborations with global universities and cross-border academic programs.

Since 2001, BINUS International has developed higher education with international standards by providing students with opportunities to gain academic experience, networks, and cross-cultural exposure.

According to the Vice President of BINUS Higher Education & Professional Services, George Wijaya Hadipoespito, M.Sc, MBA, the higher education landscape is becoming increasingly global. International education no longer necessarily means that students must complete their entire period of study abroad, which of course also requires considerable funds.

“The presence of global universities and the growing scope of cross-border collaboration show that Indonesia is increasingly becoming an important part of the global higher education ecosystem,” George explained at the press conference "Silver Anyversary BINUS International" in the Gandaria area, South Jakarta, Jakarta, Friday, 2 October 2026.

“For Indonesian higher education institutions, this development is also an encouragement to continue improving quality and global competitiveness,” he continued.

BINUS International is also one of the campuses that requires all its students to study artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the mandatory curriculum, in both regular and international programs.

In lectures, students use AI to process data, then compare, question, and discuss the results to understand the material more concretely.

This approach enables students to see the application of AI in various cases, including issues relevant to the Indonesian context. Learning through this approach is also part of BINUS’s efforts to prepare AI talent capable of competing globally.

In addition, the Director of BINUS @Senayan Campus, Dr Drs Andreas Chang, M.B.A, said that BINUS International continues to expand student experiences through partnerships with several global universities. These include UNSW Sydney, University of Birmingham, Boston University, and University of Nottingham, which are among the Top 100 of the QS World University Rankings 2027.

“For us, international education is not merely a label. What matters most is how students gain global exposure, build an international network, and develop the competence to study, work, and collaborate in a global environment, while still being able to contribute to Indonesia,” Andreas said.

One form of this cross-border academic experience is realized through the Double Degree program. This program allows students to study at BINUS International while also gaining academic experience at partner universities abroad.

The Double Degree program is not only about the opportunity to obtain two degrees. Students also gain cross-cultural experience, expand their networks, and develop an understanding of the academic and professional environments in other countries.

This experience is also reflected in the journeys of several BINUS International alumni who are now pursuing careers in various fields, both in Indonesia and abroad. Some of them are Jonathan Wahyudi, Founder Innovision3D; Jovan Adiputra, CEO & Founder Jasasistem; Enrica Melissa, Application Engineer at Randstad Jepang; and Hartarto Winata, Rebates Officer at Samsung Australia.

The journeys of these alumni form part of the picture of the impact of learning experiences and international networks on career choices after completing their education. As it turns 25, BINUS International states that it will continue strengthening collaboration with international partners and developing a learning environment relevant to the needs of the world of work and society.
