AirAsia won two awards at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 held in Maladewa, namely Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2026 and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew 2026.
The award as Asia’s leading low-cost airline was AirAsia’s 14th, while the award for its cabin crew has been retained for 10 consecutive years.
AirAsia currently serves more than 130 destinations in Asia, Australia, and various other regions. Network expansion and service innovation continue to be pursued to broaden travel options while strengthening connectivity in Southeast Asia and surrounding areas.
This year also marks AirAsia’s 25 years of connecting people with various destinations. During that period, the airline has carried nearly 1 billion passengers.
AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew Suhaila Hassan said the awards represented appreciation for all crew members who continue to maintain service for customers.
“Affordable air travel must still provide a comfortable experience and warm service. Our commitment to creating an inclusive environment is also reflected in the option for female cabin crew members to wear the hijab, allowing every Allstar to present themselves as who they are,” Suhaila said.
She also said that AirAsia accounts for around 34% of all flights at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). Based on the OAG Megahubs Index 2026, KUL was recorded as the world’s fourth-highest-connected international megahub, as well as the number-one low-cost carrier megahub.
President & Founder World Travel Awards Graham E. Cooke said the awards reflected AirAsia’s consistency in delivering affordable air travel, supported by its flight network and service innovation.
The World Travel Awards have recognized the travel and tourism industry for more than three decades. Winners are determined based on votes from travel industry professionals and travelers from various countries. (Risma)
