The Korean medical thriller drama “Hyper Knife” has been nominated for the 2026 International Emmy® Awards in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category.
This Korean Original Series from Disney+ is competing with a number of other international titles. From Disney+, nominations also went to the UK’s A Thousand Blows in the Drama Series category and Mexico’s La Peor Vuelta Al Mundo (The Worst Trip Around The World) in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category.
Premiering in March 2025, Hyper Knife follows the story of Jeong Seok, a neurosurgeon with extraordinary abilities who is obsessed with the world of surgery. His career changes after he uncovers a secret that causes his mentor to shun him and leads to the loss of his medical license.
Despite losing his license to practice, Jeong Seok continues to perform surgeries illegally and secretly helps patients who have difficulty accessing medical services. The situation changes when his former mentor, Choi Deokhe, comes to ask for his help in handling a case considered almost impossible.
The story then develops into a conflict between ambition, the opportunity to save lives, and Jeong Seok’s desire to take revenge on the person he believes destroyed his future.
“Hyper Knife” stars Park Eunbin as Jeong Seok and Sul Kyunggu as Choi Deokhe. The series was written by Kim Sunhee and directed by Kim Junghyun.
With a total of eight episodes, Hyper Knife presents a blend of medical thriller, psychological drama, and conflict between two surgeons with extraordinary abilities.
