The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is directing its 2027 Work Plan and Budget to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the national economy while ensuring that the benefits of development are increasingly felt by communities in various regions.
Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana conveyed this policy direction at a working meeting with Commission VII of the DPR RI regarding the Work Plan and Budget of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of MSMEs for Fiscal Year 2027.
Kemenpar secured a 2027 budget ceiling of Rp1.509 trillion. The budget is directed toward supporting key performance indicators and various strategic issues in tourism development.

“We are committed to ensuring that all planned programs can be implemented properly and accountably to build a resilient, competitive, and sustainable national tourism sector, while providing increasing benefits for the public,” said Widiyanti.
Several budget allocations have also increased. The budget for the Deputy for Destinations and Infrastructure rose from Rp39.43 billion to Rp48.54 billion, while the budget for the Deputy for Industry and Investment increased from Rp21.69 billion to Rp26.33 billion.
The budget for Co-Administration Tasks also increased from Rp17.86 billion to Rp19.76 billion to support the equitable development of tourism across all provinces.
Kemenpar’s flagship programs in 2027 include Improving Travel Safety, Tourism Villages, Quality Tourism, Event by Indonesia, and Tourism 5.0. Government assistance to improve amenities and accessibility is targeted to increase from 92 units in 2026 to 150 units in 2027. The travel safety program will also be implemented at 24 locations.
Tourism digitalization will be strengthened through the development of SISPARNAS and JADESTA. Kemenpar is targeting the availability of more than 6,300 tourism village data and information entries on JADESTA, as well as tourism attraction data from 38 provinces through SISPARNAS.
In terms of performance, Kemenpar is targeting 17.6–19.1 million international tourist visits in 2027. Domestic tourist trips are targeted to reach 1.28 billion, tourism investment Rp71 trillion, and tourism foreign-exchange earnings US$25.5–28.6 billion.
By comparison, during the first half of 2026, there were 7.45 million international tourist visits, US$8.43 billion in foreign-exchange earnings, 0.63 billion domestic tourist trips, and Rp39.68 trillion in tourism investment.
According to Widiyanti, budget discussions must focus on program effectiveness and tangible benefits for the public, rather than merely the size of the allocated budget. (Henry)
