Mawar de Jongh opens a new chapter in her musical journey with her latest single, “KAN,” officially released on 21 August 2026. Featuring a musical style, arrangement, and mood that differ from her previous works, the song tells a story about intuition, friendship, love, and regret after ignoring signs in a relationship.

The title “KAN,” consisting of only three letters, has become an easily recognizable catchphrase, like the expression “I told you so” when someone finally faces the consequences of a choice they had previously been warned about.

The song, created by Iqbal Siregar, Denis Ligia, Faishal Muhammad Fasya, and Mohammed Kamga, was initially designed as a duet for two women depicting a conversation between friends. However, the concept later developed into a more personal solo song, as if it were a dialogue between someone and their own intuition.

Mawar admitted that she immediately felt connected to the story of “KAN” because it was quite close to the experiences of people around her. According to her, the song portrays someone who has actually already been warned by a friend but chooses to stay because of love, until eventually having to face the consequences themselves.

In terms of vocal production, Mawar was directed to emphasize her storytelling ability. Iqbal Siregar believes Mawar’s vocal character can convey the song’s message naturally and emotionally without requiring excessive vocal technique.

“KAN” also represents a new exploration for Mawar through a music video that appears more cheerful and colorful. Together with Bernadus Raka, Mawar presents a different visual approach through the use of color, looks, acting, and cinematography.
