Ahead of National Batik Day on 2 October, batik continues to evolve as part of the lifestyle of the younger generation. No longer synonymous with formal attire, batik is now increasingly worn for work, university, hanging out, family events, and even as a statement piece in everyday styles.

Seeing this development, Shopee, through Shopee Pilih Lokal, is presenting the Nusantara Batik Festival from 25 September to 2 October 2026. The campaign offers more than 100 local batik options, with prices starting at Rp50 thousand and discounts of up to 50 percent.

The available collection includes a variety of products, ranging from kebaya, Nusantara textiles, tops and bottoms, batik-patterned dresses, to accessories. The curation brings together products with traditional motifs and designs that are more modern and suited to the style of today’s generation.

Shopee Indonesia Director of Business Partnership Daniel Minardi said that batik is an important part of Indonesia’s identity and cultural heritage, which continues to evolve with the times.

“Through the Nusantara Batik Festival, Shopee wants to provide a space that makes it increasingly easy for users to discover various high-quality local batik options, from heritage-inspired designs to more modern interpretations,” said Daniel.

Batik is also becoming easier to combine with various styles. An oversized batik shirt, for example, can be worn with jeans and sneakers for a casual look. Batik-patterned skirts or trousers can also become a statement piece when paired with a simple top.

Meanwhile, a batik outer can be paired with a tank top and wide-leg pants, while a batik dress can appear more modern with a blazer or sneakers. Batik fabric can also be transformed into a skirt, scarf, or accessories.

Through this campaign, Shopee Pilih Lokal encourages batik to be seen not only as cultural heritage, but also as a continually evolving creation that can become part of the younger generation’s personal expression.
