Splitting bills after eating, having coffee, or doing activities together with friends can now be done more practically through the Split Bill feature in the ShopeePay app. Users can scan or upload a photo of a receipt, enter amounts manually, determine each person’s share, and monitor payment statuses in real time.
President Director of ShopeePay Indonesia Eka Nilam Dari said the feature was developed to meet transaction needs closely related to everyday activities.
“Through the Split Bill feature, we want to make the process more practical, from dividing the bill to monitoring its payment status directly through the ShopeePay app,” said Eka.
One of the available options is scanning or uploading a receipt. The system will read the transaction details so users can review the detected items, select the friends taking part in the cost-sharing, and then determine each person’s order or share of the bill.
To use it, users simply open ShopeePay and select Split Bill, then choose the scan or upload receipt option. After the receipt photo is uploaded, users can check the items and amounts, select the friends taking part in the cost-sharing, determine each person’s share, and then create and share the bill.
After the bill is shared, the payment status can be monitored in real time, allowing users to see who has completed their share.
Can Be Used Without a Receipt
ShopeePay also provides an option to enter amounts manually for transactions that do not have a receipt. Users only need to enter the name and total bill, select the friends, and then determine the amount each person must pay.
For cost-sharing with the same people, the app can also display recent groups, making the creation of the next Split Bill more practical.
In addition to scanning receipts and entering amounts manually, a Split Bill can be created from a number of ShopeePay transaction histories that meet the requirements, including QRIS transactions, online payments, and ShopeeFood.
With this feature, calculating, sharing, and monitoring bills can be done in one app without having to switch between receipt photos, a calculator, messaging apps, and transfer histories. (Risma)
