Vietjet has been named Asia Low Cost/Hybrid Airline of the Year at the CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence 2026. The award, presented by CAPA – Centre for Aviation, was handed over at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Asia 2026 in Chitose, Hokkaido, Japan.

The award recognizes Vietjet’s business model development and innovation strategy, including the implementation of a Hybrid model that combines operational efficiency with a wider range of fare, facility, and service options.

For Indonesian travelers, this strategy is also reflected in Vietjet’s network expansion, including direct flights connecting Jakarta and Bali with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“For Vietjet, Hybrid means providing passengers with more choices and better experiences, built on a foundation of competitive fares, operational efficiency, and safety,” said Ho Ngoc Yen Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of Vietjet’s Board of Directors, Vice President and Group CFO.

After 15 years of operations, Vietjet continues to develop its Hybrid model through fleet expansion, including the Airbus A330, as well as product and service options tailored to travel needs, ranging from holidays and family visits to business trips.

Vietjet is also preparing to enhance the passenger experience through plans to introduce Starlink satellite internet across its entire fleet. The connectivity is intended to enable passengers to work, stay connected, and enjoy online entertainment during flights.

On the operational side, Vietjet is investing in aircraft maintenance facilities in Long Thanh and exploring the development of aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Vietnam. The airline is also expanding cooperation in technology, artificial intelligence, data, and cybersecurity.

Its internationalization strategy is an important part of Vietjet’s growth. In addition to expanding its flight network and investing in the latest-generation aircraft, the airline is developing an aviation ecosystem covering training, maintenance, ground services, and technology.

The CAPA award adds to Vietjet’s series of international accolades while further strengthening its ambition to expand Vietnam’s connectivity with various global markets, including through contributions to tourism, trade, and investment. (Risma)
